Weather Bureau Bulletins

The Weather Bureau Bulletins collection is a set of reports produced by the United States Weather Bureau, a predecessor to the National Weather Service. The bulletins are identified in two series, one lettered A-Z and the other numbered 1-44. Bulletins in the lettered set are generally larger (both in format and number of pages) and focus on weather phenomena on a regional or larger scale. Those in the numbered set are smaller (approx 5in. x 7in.) and include more focused topics, general meteorological practice and scholarly studies of various meteorological phenomena. Both sets of bulletins were published between 1892 and 1913. Five additional editions of Bulletin No. 42 were published, with the final edition coming in 1939. Bulletins are not to be confused with Weather Bureau Circulars, which were published as guidance for weather observers.
