EK80 Water Column Sonar Data Collected During PC2205

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Ecosystem Monitoring (aka Ecomon) survery uses bongo and CTD sampling to monitor and map the distribution of zooplankton, krill and smaller organisms) and the physical environment. The survey has been conducted four times per year (although fewer times in recent years) in each season on the continental shelf from Cape Hatteras, NC to the Canadian waters of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Acoustic data are occasionally collected. Marine mammal and bird observations have been collected in the past.

EK80 Water Column Sonar Data Collected During PC2301

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

NOAA Ship Pisces conducted a survey of reef fish located on the U.S. continental shelf and shelf-edge of the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) from March 23 to May 18, 2023. The area of operation was the U.S. shelf waters of the GOM (26° 50’ N, 96° 50’ W; 24° 50’ N, 83° 50’ W) in depths between approximately 14 and 150 m. 536 sites were selected to be sampled with three Spherical/Satellite arrays, and select sites were sampled with the CTD rosette during daylight hours. Mapping was conducted at night at randomly selected areas within reasonable proximity (e.g.

EK80 Water Column Sonar Data Collected During PC2302

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Mission Objectives:
1. Conduct high-resolution multibeam echosounder surveys for bathymetry and backscatter.
2. Define water column oceanographic properties and sound velocity via CTD and XBT casts.
3. Conduct ROV transects and imagery for habitat characterization.
4. Collect samples with the ROV for genetic and isotopic analysis.
5. Conduct total water column CTD rosette casts and water sampling at ROV and AUV sites for nutrient and eDNA analysis.
6. Conduct AUV surveys to collect high resolution bathymetry and backscatter.

EK80 Water Column Sonar Data Collected During PC2303

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Operations focused on continental shelf and shelf-break waters between the NC-VA border and St. Lucie Inlet, Florida, between 18-200 m deep. Leg 1 consisted entirely of sonar mapping during the ship's northward transit, beginning at St. Lucie Inlet, FL.

Oil and Gas Pipelines in the Gulf of Mexico from BOEM

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

A line file representing locations of the pipeline infrastructure in the Gulf of Mexico associated with the oil and gas industry is presented. These layers were modified from GIS data acquired from the U. S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) website. We note that pipelines are being added or modified continuously, thus regular updates of this database are required to know the true distribution of pipelines. The current layers are non-projected with coordinates in decimal degrees.

Oil and Gas Platforms in the Gulf of Mexico from BOEM

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Point location for oil and gas installations in federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico are presented. This layer was converted from GIS data acquired from the U. S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) website. We note that platforms are being added and removed continuously, thus regular updates of this data base are required to know the true distribution of platforms. The current layers are non-projected with coordinates in decimal degrees.
