Historical WBAN ID Assignments
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
4"x6" index cards represent the first written assignments of Weather Bureau Army Navy (WBAN) station identifier numbers by the National Climatic Data Center. Established in the 1950s, WBAN numbers were the first major attempt at a coordinated station numbering scheme among several weather reporting authorities. Original participants in the WBAN number plans were the United States Weather Bureau, Air Force, Navy, and Army, and the Canadian Department of Transportation. Selected German and Korean stations in close cooperation with the US Weather Services are also included.

Geostationary Satellite (GOES) Images
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Visible and Infrared satellite imagery taken from radiometer instruments on SMS (ATS) and GOES satellites in geostationary orbit. These satellites produced "full-disk" images, centered over the equator at their longitudinal orbit. Also included are sector images, zoomed images of a portion of the full-disk. Image files are created by scanning hard-copy prints, 10"x10" negatives and microfilm held in the NOAA archives. Period of record for available imagery is May 1974-December 1989.

Polar-Orbiting Satellite (POES) Images
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Visible and Infrared satellite imagery taken from camera systems or radiometer instruments on satellites in orbit around the poles. Satellite campaigns include NIMBUS, TIROS, ITOS, ESSA, ITOS, and NOAA. From their low-earth orbits, these satellites produced quadrilateral-shaped images that could be stitched together to form composite images of larger areas of earth. The collection includes composites in Mercator and Polar Stereographic projections as well as Conic projections of North America and the United States.

North America Synoptic Weather Maps
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Series of Synoptic Weather Maps. Maps contains a surface analysis comprised of plotted weather station observations, isobars indicating low and high-pressure features, and frontal features. They were produced by the National Meteorological Center (NMC) as the Weather Bureau evolved into ESSA and finally NOAA. Maps were created 2-8 times per day, though creation four times daily at 00z, 06, 12, and 18z was most common. The maps were scanned over a period of several years from microfilm by David Roth, a NOAA meteorologist at the Weather Prediction Center.

Weather Bureau Bulletins
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
The Weather Bureau Bulletins collection is a set of reports produced by the United States Weather Bureau, a predecessor to the National Weather Service. The bulletins are identified in two series, one lettered A-Z and the other numbered 1-44. Bulletins in the lettered set are generally larger (both in format and number of pages) and focus on weather phenomena on a regional or larger scale. Those in the numbered set are smaller (approx 5in. x 7in.) and include more focused topics, general meteorological practice and scholarly studies of various meteorological phenomena.

NCDC Technical Reports
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
NCDC Technical Reports is a set of retrospective analyses produced by the Research Customer Service Group and the National Climatic Data Center from 1995 to 2008. Meteorologists and Physical Scientists at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) produced more than 30 reports on wide-ranging topics from climatologies in Olympic cities to reanalyses of severe weather, flooding, and snow events.

U.S. Registry of Space Objects
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
This collection consists of an itemized list of space objects registered by the United States with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs. The data in the registry includes basic orbital parameters, a description of the object, and classification. The coverage includes United States low earth orbit, medium earth orbit, geosynchronous earth orbit, lunar rovers, heliocentric, and extended orbit.

EX1301: Ship Shakedown and Patch Test Exploration, NE Canyons and Seamounts on NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer between 20130318 and 20130405
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Following annual ship shakedown and patch tests, EX1301 will complete the comprehensive mapping of the Northeast canyons and the adjacent continental shelf carried out by the cruises involved in the Atlantic Canyons Undersea Mapping Expeditions (ACUMEN) 2012 project.

EX1302: Ship Shakedown, Patch Test and Exploration, NE Canyons and Seamounts on NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer between 20130513 and 20130606
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Between May 13 and May 18, shakedown operations will: ensure all scientific sonars are in good working order after dry dock operations; assess noise reduction modifications to the sub-bottom profiler; update software and install new multibeam acquisition computer; conduct multibeam patch test; and calibrate the EK60. After May 18, the new 6000 meter ROV will be put through rigorous engineering tests, calibrated, and exercised.

EX1304: Northeast U.S. Canyons Exploration on NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer between 20130708 and 20130725 (Leg I) and 20130731 and 20130817 (Leg II)
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
ROV exploration of the Northeast U.S. Deepwater Canyons complementing and continuing the work of the 2012 ACUMEN expedition. The two legs of EX1304 will perform systematic exploration, investigating deep water areas in and along the northeast canyons off the U.S. East Coast.
