Surface underway measurements of partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2) in water and atmosphere, sea surface temperature, sea surface salinity and barometric pressure obtained during the R/V Kronprins Haakon cruise in the Atlantic Ocean from 2019-04-18 to 2019-05-22 (NCEI Accession 0249144)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset includes surface underway measurements of partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2) in water and atmosphere, sea surface temperature, sea surface salinity and barometric pressure collected during the R/V Kronprins Haakon cruise in the Atlantic Ocean from 2019-04-18 to 2019-05-22. A General Oceanics (GO) pCO2 system (model 8050) was used for pCO2 measurements. The system is described in detail in Pierrot (2009). Surface water is pumped continuously from the intake to the equilibrator.

Dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), total alkalinity, pH on total scale, nutrients and other variables collected from profile and discrete samples observations during NOAA Ship Pisces cruise PC2104 (EXPOCODE 334B20210805) in the North Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Maine, Georges Bank, Mid-Atlantic Bight from 2021-08-06 to 2021-08-18 (NCEI Accession 0249432)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains dissolved inorganic carbon, total alkalinity, pH on total scale, nutrients and other variables measured from profile discrete observations during NOAA Ship Pisces cruise PC2104 (EXPOCODE 334B20210805) in the North Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Maine, Georges Bank, Mid-Atlantic Bight from 2021-08-06 to 2021-08-18. Increasing amounts of atmospheric carbon dioxide from human industrial activities are causing changes in global ocean carbon chemistry ultimately resulting in a reduction in pH, a process termed ocean acidification.

Towards predicting coral fate with a molecular biotechnology+machine-learning approach (NCEI Accession 0254274)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Given the widespread decline of coral reefs across the globe on account of climate change-induced rises in seawater temperature, a series of temperature-focused models have been generated to predict when and where bleaching events may occur (e.g., NOAA’s Coral Reef Watch).

Scattering coefficients of rough hailstones from computational electromagnetic models (NCEI Accession 0254298)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The library of scattering coefficients contains scattering coefficients of rough hail obtained from computational electromagnetic models modeled in WIPL-D software. The library consists of models of dry and wet (water coated) hail with axis ratios of 0.6, 0.7, and 0.8 and core sizes from 5 mm to 100 mm. Model surface roughness is introduced as a fraction of the models' equatorial radius.

GNSS Radio Occultation Soundings from Commercial Off-the-Shelf Receivers Onboard Balloon Platforms (NCEI Accession 0254366)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) radio occultation (RO) technique has proven to be an effective tool for Earth atmosphere profiling. Traditional spaceborne RO satellite constellations are expensive with relatively low sampling rates for individual satellites. Airborne RO platforms can provide much higher spatial and temporal sampling of ROs around regional weather events. This dataset is the result of a paper which explores the capability of a low-cost and scalable Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) GNSS receiver onboard high-altitude balloons.
