A survey of the marine macroalgae and invertebrates in the intertidal and subtidal zones was conducted at seven sites around Kaho'olawe Island from January 12 to 14, 1998. A total of 298 species were observed or collected, including 152 taxa in the intertidal and 193 in the subtidal. Most of these are new reports for Kaho'olawe and include only 35 species previously reported, which were mostly reef corals and macroalgae. Data are provided as derived from the report: 1998-002. World Ocean Database 2001 (WOD01) is comprised of 8 CD-ROMs and contains in situ profile data such as temperature, salinity, nutrients, oxygen, chlorophyll, plankton biomass data and more. It is an update to the World Ocean Database 1998, plus it contains some new parameters.

Bottle and CTD data were collected from MULTIPLE FRENCH PLATFORMS from a World-Wide distribution. Data were collected from multiple institutions in support of WOCE and JGOFS from 01 January 1998 to 31 December 2000. Bottle parameters include concentration profiles of dissolved oxygen, nitrate, nitrite, silicate, chlorophyll-a, silicate, dissolved organic carbon, and total phaeopigments. CTD parameters include profiles of temperature and salinity.

Release of ships of opportunity XBT data compiled by the Maritime Environment Information Centre at the UKHO. The data represents 5 years (1995 - 2000) of archived SOOP XBT observations. The dataset contains 7214 observations from various vessels (see vessel summary), the data ranges from years 1984 to 2000. Previously to 1995 the data was released annually to the oceanographic community through ICES and US NODC, World Data Centre A.

Diatom and dinoflagellate populations from various pier stations along the western North American coast were enumerated by W. E. Allen from 1917 through the mid-1940s. Most of the original data sheets have been archived by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) Library.

Physical and meteorological data were collected in the Tropical Pacific Ocean from 29 January 1979 to 03 November 2001. Data were collected by the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) from the seventy moorings of the Tropical Atmosphere/Ocean (TAO) Project. Moorings contain ADCPs, current meters, meteorological sensors, and other instruments.

This dataset includes dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), total alkalinity, water temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen concentration, delta carbon-13, delta helium-3, helium, silicate, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, radium isotopes, tritium and other variables collected from discrete sample and profile observations during R/V Knorr TTO-NAS cruises in the North Atlantic Ocean from 1981-04-01 to 1981-10-19. Physical profile data were collected from XTD and XCTD casts in the Southeast Indian Ocean and Weddell Gyre from R/V XUE LONG. Data were collected by Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory as part of the US/Chinese Ship of Opportunity Sampling Program from 28 December 2001 to 11 March 2002. XBT data include temperature profiles. XCTD data include profiles of temperature, salinity, conductivity, sound velocity, and density.

Transects of the coral colonies at 21 sites in American Samoa were surveyed by Dr. Charles Birkeland during an underwater swim in March 2002. Data for each coral species include abundances and size distributions of the colonies. The living coral cover can be estimated from the size distribution data. Data were collected by the US DOI; Geological Survey - Honolulu in support of the Coral Reef Studies.
